Description:

Sacrifice in Paradise is a multiplayer mod for 4-8 players in Unreal Tournament 2004. Players race each other to the top of the volcano, where they sacrifice themselves into the lava in a grim interpretation of "crossing the finish-line". The player with the most Divine Favor points at the end of the race wins the game!

Players earn Divine Favor points as they cross each altar checkpoint. These checkpoints reward faster players with more points. Players can also pick up shrunken heads-- placed on divergent paths-- to earn additional Divine Favor from Steve.

Along the way, players use their special mask abilities to slow competitors from reaching altar checkpoints. Players can also transform into the corrupted Kuulu Kuulu (a.k.a. the Uluuk) to hinder their opponents’ progress and steal Divine Favor points.

My Contributions:
  • Scheduled and managed a team of 16 people through all stages of development.
  • Created, assigned, and tracked project tasks using MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Initiated and implemented SCRUM practices. Developed my own spreadsheets to organize tasks
  • Lead documentation creation and edited documents.
  • Wrote Asset & Development plan.
  • Co-wrote Game Design Document and Concept Document.
  • Presented the project at milestones using MS PowerPoint.
  • Lead all team meetings.
  • Lead design discussions.
  • Managed playtest sessions, feedback collection, and survey analysis.
  • Managed the asset pipeline.
  • Arranged art assets, painted terrain textures, painted decolayers, and polished heightmaps.

  • SCRUM Production Book [xls] - Includes the product backlog, sprint backlog, and milestone deliverables. File also contains playtest results. The spreadsheet was designed for usability: list-filters, collapsing rows and columns, and dynamically linked content (data tables).

This video clip shows a full play-through of Sacrifice in Paradise. The players start off in the Kuulu Kuulu village. They cross the collapsing bridge and head for the first altar checkpoint. Players switch through their masks to use different special abilities to hinder their opponents.
